Matt Canna

Partner

Matt is an experienced litigator who focuses his practice on premises lability, trucking and automobile negligence, and construction negligence cases. Prior to joining CGW, Matt was a partner at a large Chicago law firm, where he had over fifteen years’ worth of experience litigating and defending a wide variety of negligence and commercial matters, such as products liability, toxic tort, premises liability, construction, automotive, and intellectual property claims.

Matt has also practiced as a plaintiff’s attorney, where he has prosecuted wrongful death, medical malpractice, and catastrophic personal injury claims. In this role, Matt developed a deep understanding of the tactics and strategies used by plaintiff firms in personal injury suits which brings a unique and valuable perspective to CGW.

Matt was born and raised in on the south side of Chicago, as were his parents and grandfathers. He graduated from Marist High School before moving on to the University of Notre Dame where he earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering and graduated from Chicago-Kent School of Law where he was a member of the Dean’s List.

Matt currently resides in Western Springs with his wife and two young sons. He is a volunteer youth baseball and basketball coach. Matt also proudly served on the Board of Directors for the Chicago Special Olympics.
