Overview

Costello Ginex & Wideikis understands the needs of business and we have a long history of working hand-in-hand with our business, corporate, and insurer partners to resolve disputes both in an out of litigation. CGW assists clients with a wide variety of business disputes, to which we bring the expertise of world-class trial lawyers along with a history of working hand-in-hand with large corporations, businesses, and insurers.

Jim Wideikis has worked with corporate clients ranging from startups to mid and large cap publicly traded corporations. Jim is also a nationally recognized trial attorney; he has served as lead trial counsel for claims on a wide variety of cases including negligence and personal injury claims, legal and medical malpractice, partnership disputes, shareholder derivative actions, foreclosures and construction contracts, as well as large, potentially catastrophic civil and criminal matters, including alleged product liability, breach of fiduciary duty, environmental contamination, toxic torts, securities violations, misrepresentation of defects and other claims. He is one of the few litigators in the country, in addition to Dan Costello, to have litigated directly on claims arising from the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA).

Jim brings the eye of a seasoned litigator to corporate disputes, and due to his breadth of experience he is able to help clients find areas in their business where problems could arise, and take steps to avoid them. As experienced as he is in the courtroom, Jim understands that avoiding litigation and finding creative and innovative solutions can be a better option in many instances than pursuing matters through trial. Solving problems before they happen is one of Jim’s specialties, and in addition to his legal practice he has worked as an adjunct professor at Chicago-Kent College of Law teaching the course “Legal Negotiation—Theory and Practice.”

CGW has a history of working directly with clients to find solutions for their business needs that goes beyond litigation and trial expertise. Before founding his own law firm in 2007, Dan Costello came from a background as an executive in a Fortune 500 Insurance Company. This has allowed Dan to bring a unique business focused perspective to the firm. Dan has leveraged his experience to position CGW as an excellent partner with our clients as we know our clients needs and priorities extend beyond just the immediate outcomes of litigation. Dan has assisted insurance companies as a consulting and testifying expert on disputes with other law firms and insurers and has provided expert counsel to help clients to resolve multi-million dollar disputes and restructure entire divisions. Additionally, Dan is a nationally recognized litigator and outside counsel. He was selected as one of four finalists for CLM Outside Counsel of the Year, and is a regular professor for the Claims and Litigation Management (CLM), a member of the CLM advisory board, and chancellor of the Litigation Management Institute (LMI).

CGW knows our clients value expertise, reliability, and efficiency. As such CGW is built to work as a partner with our corporate clients, and we utilize some of the best litigators in the country along with an understanding of data to provide our clients with innovative, creative, and effective results.
