Joshua Horwitz

Director of Business Operations

Joshua focuses on developing more efficient structures and workflows at Costello Legal. Josh specializes in making use of data, technology, and metrics in order to help the firm run as efficiently as possible. He ensures that when the firm promises clients results, we don’t just talk about them, we show them. Josh manages our firm’s internal database so we are constantly able to ensure we are meeting client goals and expectations, and holding our own staff accountable to these goals. He regularly creates dashboards and analytics that we use to share our firm’s progress with clients and incorporate their feedback for us. This allows us to further improve our firm and become better litigation partners with our clients. Josh has also been at the forefront of Costello Legal’s COVID-19 response, ensuring the firm is running at full capacity regardless of social distancing and lockdown restrictions.

Josh also supervises a team that specializes in helping clients track and control their legal defense costs across large programs and divisions. These have included programs to manage costs in construction defect, asbestos and special environmental litigation claims. Josh has worked closely with a major insurance company to audit millions of dollars’ worth of legal fees paid out in construction defect cases and to develop a system to better organize and track the progress of the program. These have included extensive litigation management audits in California, Texas, and Illinois.

Josh is a member of the Illinois bar and received his J.D. magna cum laude from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2013 with a certificate in the Program for Environmental and Energy Law. He was selected to the Order of the Coif and was a member of the Chicago-Kent Law Review.
