Richard Poskozim


Richard works with Daniel P. Costello & Associates’ litigation division handling a variety of general negligence claims, including premises liability matters, coverage claims, automobile accidents, general negligence, property damage, and dramshop claims. Richard comes to the firm from the Illinois Office of the Attorney General, where he represented state agencies and employees in the Torts Division of the General Law bureau in both state and federal courts. Richard worked on a myriad of types of issues including personal injury, breach of contract, and employment matters.

Prior to working at the Attorney General’s office, Richard practiced with the firm of Chittenden, Murday & Novotny representing life, health, and disability insurance providers in a diverse array of state and federal litigation including coverage disputes and fraudulent misrepresentation claims. Richard has also interned and clerked for several judges in the General Chancery division of the Cook County Circuit Court, including Presiding Judge Moshe Jacobius, Judge Michael T. Mullen and Illinois Appellate Court Justice Mary Mikva.

Richard received his JD from Chicago-Kent College of Law, where he honed his advocacy skills by working extensively with the school’s Moot Court team. Richard took first place in the DePaul Cultural Heritage Competition, and earned the Caitlin E. Jones “Coach of the Year” award. Richard received his BA in Journalism from Ohio State University, where he graduated magna cum laude.
