Laurel Martinez is a member of Daniel P. Costello & Associates’s general litigation team and is working on cases involving premises liability and negligence claims, construction injuries, commercial and personal automobile accidents, and general liability claims. Prior to starting at Daniel P. Costello and Associates, Laurel was a Litigation Technologies Consultant at Groundwork Trial Consulting for two years, where she helped clients prepare for over 150 trials. Laurel was head of logistics and training, and specialized in designing opening and closing statements, interactive timelines and maps, video editing, and in court resourcing.
Laurel received her J.D. in 2015 from IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law, where she was a member of Chicago-Kent’s nationally ranked Trial Team and received CALI awards for top grade in her class in Ethics and Advocacy and Litigation Technologies. While in law school, Laurel was the President of the Hispanic Latino Law School Association, where she led them to SBA Student Organization of the Year. Laurel was also inducted into the Bar and Gavel Society, an award where classmates elect those who stand out due to their volunteer work and contributions to the Chicago-Kent community.
Born and Raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Laurel attended Gannon University before attending Chicago-Kent. She is a board and dinner committee member of Diversity Scholarship Foundation, a Chicago based non-profit that raises scholarship funds for students in the tri-state area for LSAT Prep, Law School, and Bar Prep. In her spare time, Laurel is a self-described food nut focused on eating local in order to prevent food waste and an avid Pittsburgh Penguins fan.
