R. Andrew Smith
Attorney R. Andrew Smith concentrates his practice in construction litigation, professional liability, insurance coverage, and insurance defense. He is part of a team that assists on complex and catastrophic injury cases at the firm. He also works with the firm’s litigation management consulting. Mr. Smith is an avid legal technologist, who teaches seminars on topics involving the use of technology in law practice, law practice management, and legal ethics. Mr. Smith has taught seminars on these issues for professional associations including the Chicago Bar Association, American Bar Association, and the Minnesota County Attorney’s Association.
Mr. Smith started his practice in Illinois in 2006 after graduating from the Valparaiso University School of Law. He worked in a variety of areas, including commercial litigation, creditor/debtor lawsuits, housing disputes on behalf of landlords and tenants, insurance defense, workers compensation, and personal injury. Mr. Smith began practicing as a traffic prosecutor for the City of Chicago, Department of Law, where he prosecuted petty crime matters working in a very fast paced environment. He has hundreds of trials to his credit, and is a skilled litigator. He subsequently started a solo practice assisting individuals and businesses in a variety of civil litigation matters, worked as a supervising staff attorney for the Chicago Legal Clinic, Inc., and practiced in Minnesota in the areas of civil litigation, personal injury, corporate law, commercial transactions, and commercial litigation.
Mr. Smith started his practice in Illinois in 2006 after graduating from the Valparaiso University School of Law. He is also a member of the Minnesota Bar as of 2013. His bar admissions and professional organizations include:
